Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights

The RFK Center’s core programs focus on the power of the individual, working through alliances and organizations to generate change. The RFK Center amplifies the work of activists, authors, journalists and students to a global audience through five annual awards. Mark Freitas currently serves as the Chairman of the Development Committee.

Freitas Scholarship Fund

MHOCKEAST-421The Mark E. Freitas Scholarship Fund provides two scholarship opportunities to UConn students.  The first enables the inspired students of business school in UConn to successfully complete their studies. The second supports the UConn athletics programs.

Mark Edward Freitas Ice Forum is a 2,000-seat hockey rink in Storrs, Connecticut. The Forum was constructed as part of the UCONN 2000 commitment by the State of Connecticut to help rebuild, renew and enhance the campuses of the University of Connecticut. The building was named for Mark E. Freitas ’81, a former hockey letter winner and benefactor, on February 5, 2005.

Heart of Mary School in Haiti

Heart of Mary School, is dedicated to improving the standard of living among Haiti’s children through education.  The school works hand-in-hand with families to provide instruction and nutrition through a primary school center. The curriculum at  is designed to foster self-reliant citizens who will work to improve Haitian society and ensure a better future. The Mark and Mary Freitas Foundation is currently a benefactor of the school.
